Project Management
Ruth has project managed many projects, including several company-wide ERP installations.

On occasion Ruth has filled in as a team member as well as the Project Manager during host company personnel constraints. This makes Ruth much more versatile as she can fill in for department heads and team members keeping their best interests in mind.

Ruth has an innate ability to pull groups together. She understands the emotional upheaval new projects can cause to employees. She is (quick) compassionate, empathetic in seeing the viewpoints of team members. She does an expert job at persuading the resistant people to see the good in what the project will do for the company.

Ruth leads effective meetings. She keeps them to the point and is well aware of how important it is for team members to get back to their normal assignments.

Examples of a few projects that have been managed by Ruth:

  • ERP (QAD) implementation at Yoshida Foods Corporation. This project had an added challenge of inputting recipes instead of normal Bill of Materials. She trained every Manager, Planner, and Buyer. She worked through all the implementation issues until completion and the company was satisfied with their new system.

  • A golf bag manufacturing ERP implementation was particularly challenging as each golf bag was individually configured to order. This included several options including fabrics and personalized embroidery. By the time the project was completed, the Work Orders were completely configured to allow fabric cutting and embroidery operations know exactly how the product should be made.

  • Company wide ERP implementation at 2 sports equipment companies with Purchasing, Planning, shop floor work orders, customer service, accounting and warehouse/shipping included.

  • Set-up spare parts inventory for ‘same day delivery’ to catalog customers for a local manufacturer of large equipment. Utilized company’s older model computer system and lower-level employees. All necessary personnel were trained with reference documentation prepared by Ruth Miller Consulting. All issues were resolved and project reached goal of same day delivery for cataloged spare parts.

  • Managed group to implement RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) for a thermostat manufacturing company that had a variety of old and newer inventory. This challenge was increased as product was also in the process of being outsourced overseas. In addition, there were several hundreds of bill of materials to be reviewed and many hundreds of suppliers to be contacted for RoHS status. All on-hand inventory needed to be reviewed, labeled as compliant or not, and Engineering fixes designed for work- arounds. This project was completed on-time and on-budget.
